Comprehensive Hearing Evaluations in Arkansas
Find the Solution that Fits Your Needs
You deserve the ability to understand what’s going on with your hearing and Natural Hearing Centers provides patient-focused hearing evaluation services to Arkansas residents.Â
We view hearing care as a collaborative process that is both consultative and diagnostic. Unlike traditional hearing tests, your appointment will focus on how your hearing has changed and how it has affected your daily life so we can find the solution that truly fits your needs.
You may benefit from a comprehensive hearing test if you are experiencing:
- Frequently asking others to repeat themselves
- Difficulty understanding conversations in restaurants or group settings
- Turning up the television or phone volume more than usual
- Ringing or buzzing in the ears (tinnitus)
- Feeling mentally exhausted after conversations
- Missing parts of discussions or important details
Our Hearing Evaluation Services
Hearing Testing
Your hearing test will be done in a sound-treated diagnostic suite so no outside sounds can skew your results. We’ll measure how well you hear different pitches and volumes using both air and bone conduction testing. This helps identify the type and degree of hearing loss you’re experiencing.
Our Speech audiometry testing determines if you can understand what is being said, not just if you can hear the sound. The part of the assessment includes Speech Reception Threshold (SRT) and Word Recognition Score (WRS). The entire hearing test process is totally non-invasive and designed to give us and you a detailed understanding of your hearing health.
Middle Ear Testing if Needed
Based on what we find with the otoscope, we may do a tympanometry and other middle ear testing to see if your eardrum and middle ear are working normally. The probe is inserted into your ear canal, forms a seal, and changes the pressure while playing a tone to see how much sound bounces off your eardrum. This test helps identify if you have any medical concerns that are affecting your hearing.
Otoscopy (Visual Ear Examination)
Using a video otoscope, we will examine your ear canal and ear drum to check for excess earwax or other physical obstructions. The technology allows you to see what we see in real time, creating a more interactive and educational experience. If we need to, we’ll use our Earigator system to safely remove extra ear wax.
Discussion of Your Hearing Concerns and Lifestyle
Your appointment will start with a discussion of your hearing health, lifestyle, and communication problems. We take the time to discuss the environments and times when it’s hardest to hear. This consultative approach gives us the opportunity to recommend hearing solutions based on your real-world listening needs, instead of treating you like numbers on a chart.
What Happens After Your Hearing Evaluation?
If your hearing falls within the normal range, you’ll most likely just need regular monitoring to keep track of any future changes. If you have measurable hearing loss, our team will walk you through treatment recommendations that are always personalized to your lifestyle and may include:
- Hearing aids customized to your hearing profile
- Assistive listening devices for specific environments
- Tinnitus management strategies
- Hearing protection solutions
- Referral to an ear, nose, and throat specialist when medically necessary
Real Ear Measurement (REM) technology and our proprietary fitting algorithms allow us to measure how the hearing aid performs in your ear canal. This advanced, data-driven process takes the guesswork out of programming hearing aids, so they’re fitted for your specific hearing requirements.
What to Bring to Your Appointment
In order to get the most out of your appointment, we recommend compiling the following information:
- Any medications you’re taking and relevant medical history
- A list of symptoms you’re experiencing
- Any recent ear-related environmental factors
- Environments where hearing feels most difficult
- Previous hearing test results, if available
